Abstract
Lubricating oil is a liquid that has fuction to reduce friction between two surfaces of interconnected machine components. In addition, lubricants are also used to prevent weathering, as well as inhibit corrosion so the use of machine is more longer. Oil consists of several types. They are mineral, semi synthetic, and fully synthetic. Mineral oil is a lubricant made from petroleum base material. Synthetic Oil is a lubricant that has a mixture of addictive substances. It has fuction to improve the characteristics of lubricant.
This research uses the method of measurement of thermal conductivity and viscosity. It tested by using Thermal Conductivity of Liquids Gases Unit, and Viscometer NDJ 85 tools. Torque and the power of dynotest testing. As well ass the fuel consumption and engine temperatureby doing pace test. By using mineral type Evalube Runner SAE 20W-40, semi synthetic type Yamalube Gold SAE 10W-40 and fully synthetic type Federal Racing SAE 10W-40. The fuel thast can be used is Pertamax RON 92 with a distance of 4 km at a speed of 40-45 km / hour.
From the results of this study showed the highest viscosity of Evalube Runner oil at low temperature, but it has the highest change of speed that Federal Racing which is more stable. Federal Racing oil is an oil that has the best thermal conductivity which means it can absorb heat better than two other oils. The maximum torque of Evalube Runner oil is 12.04 N.m, Yamalube Gold oil 11.77 N.m and Federal Racing oil of 12.79 N.m. The maximum power of Evalube Runner oil is 10.6 HP, Yamalube Gold oil of 11.3 HP and Federal Racing oil 10.9 HP. The fuel consumpsion of Evalube Runner oil is 38.8 km / liter with engine temperature of 63.7 ° C, Federal Racing oil 46.9 km / liter with engine temperature 51.8 ° C and Yamalube Gold oil as far as 41.6 km / liter with a temperature of 56.9 ° C. It can be concluded from the data collection that each oil has the characteristics of viscosity, thermal conductivity, engine performance, fuel consumption and different temperatures. Based on the result of this study, the research can be used as one of guidlines in choosing the right oil and the right type for motorcycle as well as can be developed in subsequent research.
