      Abstract
This study is to find out how the response of the Turkey’s Government in the Recep Tayyip Erdogan era towards Syrian refugees in Turkey. More than three million Syria civilians have been fled to Turkey since the Syrian civil war emerged in 2011. Soon afterwards, the Turkey’s Government under Erdogan's command implements a policy named open door policy for Syrian refugees fleeing from their homes. In addition, one thing that remains to be questioned is the interest behind its policy. The analysis below will show how Erdogan is trying to revive the Ottoman empire’s legacy as Turkey’s identity and shape its national interest. The constructivism theory of Alexander Wendt emphasizes on identity that shape national interest and action. In this study, Erdogan uses Neo-Ottomanism as Turkey's current identity. Neo-Ottomanism encourages Turkey to play a global role and become a leader of the Islamic world
