      Abstract
Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by impaired ability to assess reality or insight, mind disruption, and perception, dulled affects, anhedonia, deterioration, and poor cognitive tests which sometimes can be found. The prevalence of schizophrenia is about 0.7 cases per 1000 worldwide in each year and is expected to continue to increase. This study aims to determine the influence and training of social skills on the quality of life of schizophrenia. This research is Quasi Experimental research with Pretest-Posttest design with one group design. Research respondents were 28 people suffering from schizophrenia in 4 Puskesmas (Health Center) in Special District of Yogyakarta by using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected with interviews and questionnaires. Research data were analyzed using Wilcoxon correlation test. The Wilcoxon test results show that there is no effect of social skills training on the quality of life of schizophrenia in the community (Sig = 0.480, p> 0.05). This is because social skills training which is aimed at improving the psychosocial aspect of schizophrenia is not enough to improve the quality of life of schizophrenia which is multifactorial.
