Abstract
Polypropylene is a plastic material which is widely used as food packaging and house hold appliances, because a polypropylene plastic has the properties of a strong material, hard and resistant to high temperature. It is necessary to do research about the use of recycled materials in the manufacture of products from polypropylene plastic material. This research aims to compare the results of the tensile test and impact test of pure and recycle polypropylene materials.
This research, using material of pure polypropylene, first recycling of polypropylene and the second recycling of polypropylene. The manufacture of specimens using injection molding machine. Testing done by tensile test with ISO 527-1b and impact test with charpy ISO 179 methods.
The results of the research that has been done to get the value of the tensile strength maximum at the polypropylene pure by 36,77 MPa, first recycling polypropylene by 26,263 MPa and the value of the tensile test of the last recycling 2 polypropylene by 27,310 MPa. The maximum value of impact test on pure polypropylene amount to 27,995 Joule, polypropylene recycle 1 of amounted to 17,110 Joule and polypropylene 2 amount to 9,791 Joule. It can be concluded that the use of the pure material, it has the properties of brittle and found that the more of the material is recycled that decreases the quality of that material.
