      Abstract
Face detection is a topic that is widely studied by scientists as a special study in image processing. This is because the assumption of information about a person's face can be extracted from an image which is then represented as a person's identity for face recognition media. Although in the application on this topic has been implemented, but basically this technology is not perfect so that research still must be developed to get perfect result. The purpose of this study is to design, test, and analyze the self check-in application system and capable of performing detection and face recognition. For facial detection process using Viola Jones method by utilizing image processing library that serves as the basis of processing in the detection of face image. While for face recognition process using method of Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH). In this study the tests conducted in face detection and facial recognition performed several factors. These factors include the influence of position, expansion, accessories, and testing based on the distance between the camera and the face.
