Healthy vegetable farming is a method or way of farming by applying some principles of organic farming to minimizing the use of chemicals in vegetable cultivation. This study aim to determine differences in perceptions of farmers who apply healthy vegetables and farmers who do not apply healthy vegetables. The research was conducted in Wukirsari Village which has the highest number of vegetable farmers in Merapi eruption area. Data were collected through interviews with the help of questionnaires to 97 respondents who applied healthy vegetables and 41 farmers who did not apply healthy vegetables taken by proportional random sampling. The results showed that the perception of farmers who apply healthy vegetables included in the good category, while the perception of farmers who do not apply healthy vegetables including the category is not good. However, on the risk item of failure and conformity with the culture of the community, neither applying nor unapplied farmers have an unfavorable perception, while in the indicator ease to try farmers have a good perception. Mann Whitney Test results prove that there is a significant difference (α = 0.01) between the perceptions of farmers who apply healthy vegetables with farmers who do not apply healthy vegetables
