STUDI EKSPERIMENTAL PENGUKURAN HEAD LOSS MAYOR (PIPA PVC DIAMETER 1/2”) DENGAN VARIASI DEBIT ALIRAN UNTUK KONDISI REJIM ALIRAN TURBULEN FLUIDA FASA CAIR
Abstract
Head loss is a phenomenon of loss-loss flow which is found in a fluid flow either gas fluid or liquid phase. Head loss is caused by the friction between fluid layers and between fluid and pipe surface it passes. Head loss is divided into two, those are head loss major and head loss minor. Head loss major only happens to straight pipes while head loss minor happens on other than straight pipes. Head loss can only decrease the pressure on a fluid flow that head loss will be very harmful in a fluid flow because it will increase the pumping power.
This research was conducted by draining water fluid to pipes type PVC ½” with the pipe length of 1 meter. The flow debit of fluid drained was varied using gate valve that it resulted in turbulence flow pattern where the turbulence flow had Reynolds numeral above 4000. Flow debit variations used in this research were 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 LPM. In this research, the data collection of the pressure gaps on the entrance side and exiting side using Differential Pressure Meter. The data of pressure gaps collected would be used for measuring the amount of head loss major and friction coefficient that happened.
From the research results, it shows that flow debit variation has influence toward the value of head loss major and friction coefficient. The bigger the flow debit, the bigger the head loss major produced. However, the friction coefficient is getting smaller. The result of the highest Reynolds numeral used in this research is 29355.48. For the number of head loss major produced, reaches 0.0179 to 0.199 m. Meanwhile, the result of friction coefficient produced is 13.95%. The deviation value from Blasius equation is 19.45% and deviation value from Von Korman equation is 22.44%.
