PERBANDINGAN KEKUATAN GESER PADA BRAKET ROTH DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN SEMEN IONOMER KACA DAN RESIN KOMPOSIT
Abstract
Background: Fixed orthodontic appliances consist of archwires, auxiliaries, and bracket which are attached directly on the teeth surface. Fall out bracket is one of the problems in orthodontic treatment as it can delay orthodontic treatment. In order to avoid that problem, strong but safe adhesive material can be used. The cementation material which is commonly used is resin composite. Composite resin attachment needs mechanical tie between resin composite cementation material and teeth structure obtained with etsa acid on teeth surface. However, etsa acid can cause email decalcification. Email decalcification can be prevented by using glass ionomer cementation material, however glass ionomer cement has low tie strength. The measuring of orthodontic bracket adhesive strength can be measured using shear strength test.
Objective: To learn the difference of cementation material of Roth Bracket by comparing composite resin and type 1 glass ionomer cement.
Method: the samples were 8 post extraction premolar teeth divided by 2 groups, each group consists of 4 teeth. The first group used type 1 glass ionomer cement (Fuji 1) and 10 % polycriatic acid dentin conditioner for 10 seconds. The second group used composite resin (Orthocem) and 37 % phosphate etsa acid for 15 seconds. All teeth were then soaked in artificial saliva for 24 hours. Shear strength test used Universal Testing Machine. The data analysis used was Saphiro-wilk and Independent Sample T-test.
Result: the result of Independet Sample T-test statistic test is seen on equal variances assumed line which has significant value of 0,002 (p<0,05).
Conclusion: There is significant difference of shear strength between type 1 Glass Ionomer Cement cementation material and Composite Resin. Type 1 Glass Ionomer Cement has lower shear strength than Orthodonsi Resin Composite.
