      Abstract
The incidence of precancer at young age develops progressively from year to year. Teenagers who have an unhealthy lifestyle have a greater risk of hypertensive disease compared with a healthy lifestyle. Behavior based on positive knowledge and attitude then the behavior will be settled so that over time will become a habit and lifestyle. One way to increase one's knowledge is by health education. This study aims to determine the effect of audiovisual health education on hypertension against hypertension prevention behavior in adolescents in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. The type of research used is quasi experimental design, with pretest-postest group design design. The sample of the study was 96 students of class X, which then divided into 2 groups, 48 intervention group students and 48 control group students. Sampling technique using purposive sampling. The instrument of study was to question the hypertension prevention behaviors given before and after health education. Analysis of research data using different test, namely Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the number of students who experienced changes in hypertensive prevention behavior in the intervention group (37 students) more than the control group (31 students) with significance p> 0,05. So health education with audiovisual media tends to increase hypertension prevention behavior in adolescents but not statistically significant.
