      Abstract
Visual evaluation for functional pavement of Triwidadi Road, Pajangan, Bantul regency, Yogyakarta, using Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method is considered to be in bad category. This is shown from the damage of the pavement surface indicated by the inconvenience when driving along the road. The correlation between functional damage using PCI method and structural using Bengkelman Beam method must be identified as anticipative act in deciding whether or not roadwork is needed. The test was done using Bengkelman Beam with reverse deflection method of 2 km long. Based on the analysis of PCI index, there was no significant correlation between functional layer damage and the structural of the whole segment, resulted from test on segment 1 = -9 cm (moderate PCI result), segment 2 = -8 cm (moderate PCI result), segment 3 = -12 cm (moderate PCI result), segment 4 = -11 cm (moderate PCI result), segment 5 = -12 cm (moderate PCI result), segment 6 = -12 cm (poor PCI result), segment 7 = -9 cm (very poor PCI result), segment 8 = -14 cm (very poor PCI result), segment 9 = -8 cm (moderate PCI result), segment 10 = -1 cm (poor PCI result). From those results, it is indicated that Triwidadi road on Sta. 14+000 – Sta. 16+000 is not yet recommended for being given a multi-layered pavements roadwork, for its pavement’s structural layer is still able to cope with the traffic load.
