      Abstract
      Background: Low Birth Weight (LBW) is a neonate born with a weight less than 2500 grams and its birth regardless of gestation. Handling LBW can use several ways, one of them with Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). Kangaroo mother care is a treatment given to LBW. Kangaroo mother care is done by direct contact, so that between the mother's skin with baby's skin will stick together. Purpose: This study aims to find out the description of the direction of kangaroo mother care in the hospital. Method: This study used non-experimental research with descriptive research design. Determination of the sample in this study using purposive sampling technique with the number of respondents 13 person. Data collection with observation sheet and questionnaire. Result: Application of kangaroo mother care in Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital has been done by mother who become intermittent respondent and KMC run well. The support in the application of kangaroo mother care is good. All respondents get support from health workers, husband, families, relatives and people around. There are no obstacles during the implementation of kangaroo mother care, only one respondent feels the hassle in applying the kangaroo mother care. Conclusion: The application kangaroo mother care at Panembahan Senopati Bantul Hospital has been done well.
