      Abstract
      This research entitled “The Use Social Media Instagram Of Photo-Based As Output In The Learning Essei Sakubun” (Research on Students of Level III Study of Japanese Language Education Departmen of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta period 2017/2018). The purpose of this study is to find out how the use of social media instagram based on photos in learning Essei Sakubun as well as to determine the response of learners to the use of photo-based instagram social media in learning Essei Sakubun. The method used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative approach. The sample is the students on third level of Japanese Language Education Departmen of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta period 2017/2018, which follow Essei Sakubun lecture counted 26 people. Researchers obtain data directly through observations, questionnaires and interviews. Based on the observations, questionnaires and interviews are most of the learner opinion that the use of social media instagram based on photos in learning Essei Sakubun help in the process of making sakubun because of the photo. In addition, the majority of learners agree that the use of photo-based instagram social media is suitable for learning Essei Sakubun because it easier to find and more creative ideas in developing sakubun
