The main focus of this research is about economic strategies of Myanmar post-democratization with range time from 2012 up to 2017. Main sources of this qualitative research are secondary data from official statements, books, journal articles, and news. It will discuss and explain how economic was being run during military governance and civilian governance. There is a study that stated in running the national economy there are two major strategies that often used by a state, which are growth strategies to promote economic growth and income redistribution to reduce a poverty gap, or a combination of those two. For Myanmar’s case, democratization process will be an indicator to decide which economic strategy that was used. This research concludes that Myanmar in general, is using growth strategies to accelerate economic growth. Myanmar is still trying to reduce a poverty gap in particular areas not only with its domestic capacity but also with aids from foreign and non-state actors.
