      Abstract
Glycerol is chemical material multi function and have higher value from 1996 - 2000 years. Papaya plant comes from south Mexico and north American. Papaya fruit has around 15% seed. Oil in papaya seed is 25,41% up to 34,65%. This research aims to prove there is a glycerol and calculate crude glycerol in papaya seed. Seed of papaya is Carica papaya L kind, that takes from Magelang, Tegalrejo, Krajan. Seed of papaya 67,50 gram socletation with ethanol 96% as much 500 ml with as much 11,5 gram KOH (Potassium Hydroxide) is soluble in there,. There is crude glycerol to prove with KLT. Crude glycerol analytic with distillation water (1 ml) : Acetonitrile (5,6 ml) as mobile phase with glycerol grade pro analyze and 1 ml crude glycerol add 5 ml aquadest, there is spot on the sample Rf 0,8 under UV 254 lamp, after spray Kmno4 to plat, there is tailing both crude glycerol and marker spot Rf 0,7 under 254 UV lamp, there is nothing under 366 UV lamp and tailing spot yellow zones on a pink background under visible light. Organoleptic test for crude glycerol includes for smell, solubility in the aquadest, ethanol, and ether at room temperature. Get results rancid smell, soluble in aquadest, soluble in ethanol, and not dissolved in ether.
