      Abstract
Background: Acid etching prior to orthodontic bracket bonding process and debonding bracket orthodontic may result enamel demineralization. Novamin is a synthetic mineral that structurally similar to tooth mineral composition. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of Novamin on the amounts of Ca, O, P and the enamel surface roughness during remineralization process. Method: Twenty five teeth were assigned to five groups (n= 5): I (control), II (Biofix), III (Biofix+Novamin), IV (Fuji Ortho LC), and V (Fuji Ortho LC+Novamin). Surface roughness was evaluated by SR Tester KR 220. Chemical composition was analyzed by EDX analysis and enamel surface changes by Scanning Electron Microscope. Result: All groups showed differences amounts in Ca and P. Surface Roughness showed differences between all groups. Enamel surface changes included exposed prism, pits and groves. Conclusion: Novamin showed significant remineralizing potential in enamel demineralization.
