The Child Welfare Institution (LKSA) is a social institution that moves to deal with children's problems with the specific criteria. This institution is a real form of the government program in overcoming neglected children both physically and mentally. In its management, good parenting is needed to make the children raised in this institution could grow and develop like other children. The parenting style that is applied must be arranged with a good strategy to be maximal in achieving the goals that have been prepared. This research is a descriptive method research and used a qualitative approach. The conclusion obtained from the research that has been done that; 1) the strategy of parenting is very influential to build the character of children and helps children to find their identity by remaining in the guarding of the institution along with all the elements that educate them. 2) An effective parenting style in the social institution like this is democratic parenting, where foster children are also given space to devote their ideas and thoughts and are given space to practice independently and confidently.
