METODE PEMBELAJARAN AGAMA ISLAM PADA ANAK TUNAGRAHITA DI SLB NEGERI 1 BANTUL
Abstract
This research aims to find out Islamic religion learning method for children with mental disability at SLB Negeri 1 Bantul. This is essential considering the problems experienced by children with mental disability who find difficulties in following learning process due to their below average intelligence, therefore special approach is needed in their learning process.
This research use descriptive qualitative approach. The research subject were an Islamic religion teacher of mental disability program SDLB level and 5 students from each mental disability class and SDLB level as well as the headmaster of SLB Negeri 1 Bantul. The data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The data were then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing stages.
The research result show that the characteristic of Islamic religion learning at a special needs school is similar to that of public school, however the learning at implementation focuses only on certain materials. The Islamic religion teacher of mental disability program at SLB Negeri 1 Bantul uses some methods in teaching such as lecture, demonstration, question and answer, singing, and practice. There are some supporting factors such as: the available media are complete, the teacher are patient and professional, and the teacher work ethic is excellent. As for the obstacles, there are; students lack of disclipine in attending classes, students unstable learning mood and parents lack of attention.
