      Abstract
      Special Region of Yogyakarta is well known as a city of education and one of the most secondly tourist destinations. This condition causes the number of urbanitation increases and affects to basic needs that also increase. As a result it will increase the number of vehicles that will lead to the increasing of traffic volume. If the capacity of road constructed is not enough it will cause congestion and will risk of traffic accidents. Evaluation on intersection geometric is conducted to identify road infrastructure such as geometric aspect so that it can be evaluated and is redesigned the infrastructure with safety principle and traffic efficiency at Sonosewu-Sonopakis intersection. The method used in this research consist of evaluation of the existing condition which is then analyzed in accordance with the regulation to review the geometric conditions at Sonosewu-Sonopakis intersection. The result of the analysis is that there is a change of geometric design from two intersections become one intersection with enhancing effective width, then the result of the service level of the road becomes A, it means that road has free flow with low traffic volume and high speed, low traffic density by controlling the speed of the driver based on the rules and the physical condition of the road, the driver can maintain speed without delay.
