      Abstract
Yogyakarta–Wonosari km 10-13 Road which is one of the segments of primary artery road connects Special Region of Yogyakarta Province with East Java Province with a high mobility level. Because of the frequent accidents on this road, it is necessary to analyze the causes of traffic accidents. A road safety audit needs to be conducted to identify the high-risk situations or potential accidents. Based on the background and problems stated previously, the objectives of this research are: 1. to identify the characteristics of the accidents, 2. to evaluate potential problems on the roads that have operated on the road safety, 3. to analyze the stopping sight distance and the passing sight distance, and 4. to propose recommendations for improvement. The characteristics of traffic accidents and the highest number of casualties who suffered minor injuries are 128 people. Moreover, the highest causing factors of accidents are human factors, i.e. 87 incidents. Based on the case proceedings, the most frequent type of occurrence is the Accidents without Turning Movement of Two Vehicles, i.e. 70 events. Based on the time of occurrence, the highest number of the accidents occurred in the afternoon, i.e. 58 incidents. Furthermore, based on the age, most of the victims of the accident is aged 26-35 years, i.e. 51 people. Moreover, the stopping sight distance on this road is not safe as the spot speed (existing) of the stopping sight distance is 49.047 m which is 43.55 m smaller than the planned stopping sight distance, i.e. 84.65 m. In addition, the passing sight distance is also not safe as the spot speed (existing) of the passing sight distance is 165.85 m which is 203.7 m smaller than the planned passing sight distance, i.e. 302.68 m.
