DAMPAK PEMEKARAN WILAYAH TERHADAP PELAYANAN PUBLIK DI KECAMATAN SEBATIK TENGAH
Abstract
Since the beginning of independence until today, Indonesia has been prioritizing development as a benchmark for the country's progress. During the process, development faces many obstacles, one of them is the lack of equitable development. The development is still focused on the central government, namely Java island, while on the other islands there are still many inequalities that occur. Thus, in the beginning of 2001, the idea of regional expansion emerged to overcome the development inequality that occurred. Until today, many regions in the country want to be divided into new territories. However, the division of the region that is considered as a solution to the development problem is still being questioned, whether it is truly effective or will it only give rise to new political interests. Some regions succeeded in splitting themselves into new territories but many of them also failed to bring their regions to a better level. The factors that caused failure is unpreparedness of human resources and the existence of political interests that are not based on community oriented. Different from Sebatik island which succeeded in splitting into a new territory, one of them is Sebatik Tengah District. Within five years, Sebatik Tengah District experienced an increase in the number of facilities and infrastructure, especially in the fields of education, health and infrastructure. The increase of facilities and infrastructure improvement in the Sebatik Tengah District also has an impact on public services. Although it is not directly proportional to the facilities and infrastructure, however, there is an increase in the field of service. It is also expected that in the future, the impact of regional expansion in the Sebatik Tengah District can be better along with the development of existing facilities and infrastructure.
