| dc.description.abstract | Technological developments in the libraries field have become a very decisive aspect of the sustainability of the library itself, including digital preservation technology. Digital preservation of scientific literature collection should be conducted in a well-organized so it could be accessed by people long lasting. This study aims to describe digital preservation methods and the factors that constrain faced in preservation activities digitally conducted in the library of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This study approach by qualitative descriptive method. Data collection done by observation, interview, and documentation. The results show that digital preservation applied in UMY Library is quite good. The method applied begins with the stages of the transfer of media collection (digitalization) in the form of digital form with the number of collections until the end of 2017 approximately 17.720,and digital preservation stages in the form of technology preservation, refreshing, and migration. However, the method has not been fully able to maintain and preserve existing digital collections. This digital preservation also has some constraints such as human resources, infrastructure, and costs. Therefore we need some other well-capable methods such as emulation, digital archeology, and the transition of digital data to analog data.
