      Abstract
      Background: Islamic nursing care is the process of nursing care provided by the nurse to the patients in the form of providing nursing care considering the religion adopted, of helping the patient perform worshipping such as praying, performing shalat, doing dzikr, reciting the Qur'an, communicating well under Islamic Shari'a, and of providing nursing care based on sexes. Purpose: The aim of this study is describing the patients’ needs for Islamic care at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital. Method: This research used a descriptive quantitative method with cross sectional approach. The data were collected from 84 respondents, by consecutive sampling technique. The instrument was a closed ended questionnaire consisting of 18 dichotomous choice questions. Result: The research reveals that the characteristic of the patients is as the followings: 61.9% female, 75% between 35 – 64 years of age, 79.8% with 1 – 4 days of treatment, and 42.9% from senior high school graduate. It is also found out that 65.5% of the respondents strongly need Islamic care. Conclusion: Thus, it is in the category of strongly need. The highest levels of needs are on the need of good communication 69%,of pray support 63,1%, and of reading or listening to al Qur’an assistance 59,5%.
