      Abstract
Today, the tourism industry has experienced very rapid development. The importance of the tourism sector for many countries is illustrated by the fact that tourism accounts for 5% of the world's GDP. In addition, tourism ranked fourth after exports of fuels, chemicals and automotive products in international trade. Along with the growth of the world tourism industry, Japan as one of the developed countries in Asia, began to make tourism its focus. During the second period of Shinzo Abe's government, Japanese tourism targeted Southeast Asian Muslims as its main target. As a strategy, Japan applies halal tourism or known as muslim friendly tourism to attract Muslim tourists from Southeast Asia. As a country with a Muslim minority population, Japan tries to make its best innovations, in order to be able to compete in the halal tourism industry, internationally.
