      Abstract
Corn (Zea mays L.) is one of the most important commodities that needed by the people of Indonesia, but its productivity has decreased due to the attack of armyworm (Spodoptera litura F). Control using organic pesticides is necessary to reduce the negative effects of synthetic pesticides. The aim of this study was to obtain an effective concentration of papaya leaf extract to control armyworm pests on corn plants and find out the effect of papaya leaf extract on the growth of corn plants. This research was held in March to June 2018 in the Protection and Greenhouse Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University, Yogyakarta. The study used an experimental method with a single factor design arranged in a completely randomized design with 5 replications. The treatments tested were the concentration of papaya leaf extract 15%, 30%, 45%, and 60% plus Deltamethrin pesticides and without treatment (control) as a comparison. The results showed that pesticide extracts of papaya leaf extract were 15%, 30%, 45% and 60% effective in controlling armyworm pests in corn plants. Papaya leaf extract does not affect the growth of corn plants.
