      Abstract
      Ideally the medical doctor be able to communicate messages related to the patient's health properly and correctly, the information communicated should also not be cut off, so that the patient does not misunderstand. Good communication between doctors to patients can provide satisfaction to the patient so he trust his recovery to the doctor and he believe the doctor is competent and truly cares for his recovery. The research location is Puskesmas Kasihan II for the number of patients is more that other puskesmas located nearby. This is interesting to researcher and raises research question, how does the medical doctor communicate to the patients and how it is related to the number of patient at Puskesmas Kasihan II. The purpose of the study was to describe the principles of the medical docter’s therapeutic communication to patients that took place at the Puskesmas Kasihan II. This study was conducted with the qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interview, conversation, and documentation. The result shows that there were no patients who experienced miscommunication with doctors. Doctor A did 8 of the 9 principles of therapeutic communication. Doctor B did all the principles of therapeutic communication. Doctor C did all the principles of therapeutic communication. Doctor D did all the principles of therapeutic communication. Therapeutic communication that takes place between general practitioners and patients at Puskesmas Kasihan II is in accordance with the principles of therapeutic communication.
