THE EVALUATION OF IEC SERVICES BY PHARMACISTS ON THE LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING ABOUT DRUGS OF OUTPATIENT

IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) Services, is a pharmaceutical service that performed by pharmacists when giving a medicine to patients. This research is intended to know and assess the suitability of IEC services provided by the pharmacist to outpatient in RSUD Panembahan Senopati Bantul with pharmacy service standard (Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia No. 35 Tahun 2014). The other objective of this study is to know the level of understanding of outpatient after being given IEC, and knowing a relationship between the IEC services provided and the patient's level of understanding.
This research is a non-experimental research with the analytical, cross-sectional descriptive method using questionnaire and checklist. Samples were taken with a non-probability sampling method, with incidental sampling technique. The required sample size is calculated by sloven formula, with Margin Error in 10% sampling, so that the minimum sample of 100 respondents is obtained.
In this research, the service of IEC provided by a pharmacist to outpatient at Panembahan Senopati Hospital in Bantul is by pharmacy service standard. This can be seen from the 12 assessments made, the percentage is 97% of items number 1, 99% of items number 2, 83% of items number 3, 95% of team's number 4, 100% for items 5 and 6 , 34% of items number 7, 24% of items number 8, 67% of items number 9, 24% of items number 10, 57% of items number 11, and 51% of items number 12, and the result of assessment of service of IEC RSUD Panembahan Senopati Bantul, declared less (40%). The results of the assessment of the outpatient's level of understanding about the drug declared less (86%). Pearson product moment correlation test results obtained a significant value of 0.000 and Pearson correlation value of 0.305, states that the service IEC by pharmacists positively related to the level of understanding of patients with the level of closeness correlation weak relationship.
