      Abstract
      Background: Until now, pain recorded as a complaint that bring the treatment to the hospital. Nurse using knowledge can overcome the problem of pain either independently or collaboratively by using two approaches, pharmacological approaches and nonpharmacological approaches. Pharmacological therapies such as medication analgesic or pain reliever has side effects depression, sedation, nausea vomiting and constipation. While the nonpharmacological therapy has no risks or side effects. Objective: the purpose of this study is to describe the independent nursing intervention in patients who have pain in PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Unit II Hospital. Methods: This research is descriptive analytic cross sectional approach that the study with observations once (points time approach) which is a quantitative research. Research conducted in January to Februari 2016 all over the ward inpatient PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Unit II hospital. Respondents consists of 56 patients pain and with accidental sampling technique. Results: the results showed that the nursing interventions independent given by nurses to the respondents pain in the PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Unit II Hospital is a technique deep breath received by 26,8% of respondents, compress warm water received by 1,8% of respondents, dzikir khafi received by 23,2 % of respondents and therapy Quran received by 25% of respondents. Conclusion:. No nurse that gives intervention independent the fform of efflurage massase, guiden imagination, music therapy, distraction techniques, aromatherapy, akuplesur techniques, compress cold water to the patients pain. Intervention compress warm water almost all the nurse not provide in patients pain, intervention dzikir khafi and therapy Qur’an received by a small portion
