PENGARUH MELODIC INTONATION THERAPY (MIT) TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BAHASA (BICARA) dan KEMAMPUAN FUNGSIONAL KOMUNIKASI PADA PASIEN STROKE DENGAN AFASIA MOTORIK
Abstract
Losses or decreases in communication and language skills that are the result of brain damage (usually in the left hemisphere) and occur in more than a third of people who survive strokes. Melodic Intonation Therapy is a form of therapy of behavioral therapy that can be applied to patients with aphasia motor. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Melodic Intonation Therapy on language skills (speech) and communication functional abilities. The study design was a quasi experiment with a post-test nonequivalent control group approach. The sample was 23 respondents divided into two groups: 12 respondents in the intervention group and 11 respondents in the control group. The sample was selected using the consecutive sampling method. In this study it was found that there was no effect of melodic intonation therapy on language ability (speech) p value = 0.054 and communication functional ability p value = 0.081, but there were differences in the average value of language skills (speech) and functional ability of communication before and after treatment in the intervention group. Although the results are not significant but therapy shows an increase in language skills (speech) and functional communication capabilities that can be alternative therapies and the role of nurses must collaborate with speech therapists to apply melodic intonation therapy to facilitate the communication process.
