This research aims to determine how the role of department of agriculture, fisheries, and forestry in managing the fisheries sector at Sleman district in 2014, and identify factors supporting and inhibiting factor in managing the fisheries sector in 2014. There were four informants in this research; there were two informants from the department of agriculture, fisheries, and forestry and the other informants from fish farmers. There were two instruments, i.e. interviews and documents. The instruments were analyzed by using triangulation analysis to describe and draw the conclusions from each informant. The researcher used the documents to strengthen and support the statements of the informant. The analysis technique that the researcher used in this research was interactive models from Miles and Huber man model. The results showed that the role of the objective of the department in managing the fisheries sectors and as a facilitator of infrastructure launched a variety of programs to improve the productivity of human resources. Factors supporting and inhibiting in management of fisheries sector at Sleman district was facilities and infrastructures supported that will improve the welfare of society and found things inhibitors such as fish productivity issues and security management of the fisheries sector.
