      Abstract
Background: Inflammation is the body’s physiological response to the interference from outside the body. Inflammatory drugs have gastrointestinal irritation side effects, so the development of anti-inflammatory drugs is needed. The ethanol extract of the lemongrass stem has the potential to be anti-inflammatory. Methods: This study used quasi-experimental method with a completely randomized pattern of unidirectional patterns on 25 male wistar rats given lemongrass ethanol extract with 3 dose variations (5%, 10%, and 20%). The anti-inflammatory test was assessed by decreasing the volume of edema on the feet of mice that were measured with a Plethysmometer. The data analysis used is the One-Way ANOVA test. Results: 20% lemongrass ethanol extract has the best ability in reducing the volume of edema. In group II (ibuprofen), there was no significant difference compared to group V. Group I (negative control) is marked by the graph which continue to increase, meaning there was no inhibition of edema. Conclusion: Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) stem ethanol extract has an anti-inflammatory effect in male wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). The most effective dose as anti-inflammatory is dosage of 20%.
