      Abstract
      This research aims to obtain information on the potential of pests and determine the level of resistance the maize (Zea mays L.) germplasm var. pulut from Sulawesi (Waxy corn) and introduced maize plants var. Black aztec. The method used was experimental method by planting both maize varieties at the research site without any treatment and the observation method was used to obtain data on pest types, pest populations, weed types, types of natural enemies of pests, and the level of resistance of maize. The results of the study indicate that the type of pest that attacks the maize var. Waxy corn and Black aztec consist of 8 The same type of pest is divided into 3 ordo namely Thysanoptera, Orthoptera and Lepidoptera. The type of pest found only in maize var. Waxy corn have an ordo Rodentia, while the type of pest that is only found in maize var. Black aztec have an ordo Coleoptera. Maize varieties Waxy corn and Black aztec have a high resistance to attacks of various types of pests with damage to leaves, tassel, stems, and cobs that fall into the mild category.
