Alhamdulillah, all praised be to Allah, the Almighty, who has given us guidance, strength, health and fortitude to us so that the handbook for learning Grammar is finally completed. The handbook is written with the aim of providing English language learners in the English Language Education Department with knowledge about grammar so that they have sufficient tools for writing. This handbook is written based on the curriculum of English Language Education Department in which four topics are developed, comprising Parts of Speech, Phrases, Clauses and Sentences, and Sentence Analyses. Using Student Cantered Learning approach, this handbook aims to develop develop students' competencies in all four language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, the materials and exercises of learning included in the handbook is expected to improve students’ broad knowledge about English Grammar. Learning activities in the handbook are developed in the form of exercises to make students actively learn English. By doing the exercises, the students are able to identify the topics of Grammar and apply their knowledge to express ideas and feelings naturally in English language. In learning, the teacher is expected to act as a facilitator, provide feedback, and encourage students to dare to use the target language to communicate accurately and acceptable. The handbook on Capita Selecta on Grammar was impossible to be completed without supports of various parties. Therefore, we would like to thank all those who helped complete the preparation of this book. In addition, we also admit that this handbook still has a number of limitations. Constructive suggestions as well as input from various parties, especially teachers and students who use this book, are welcomed for further improvement.
