      Abstract
Background: Hypothyroidism is a disease that is still a problem in Indonesia and around the world. Low thyroid levels have many health effects. In endemic areas, the average IQ scores range from below average to average, while those in non-endemic regions average IQ, including the average above average (high average). One way to improve thyroid function is physical exercise. A 30-minute physical activity per day can enter thyroid levels. The increased thyroid count is also expected to influence the increase in IQ. Method: This study was a quasi-experimental pretest and a control group design. The research topics were 4-6 primary students of the native class. Up to 35 students from the sports group of SD Tukharjo, who do sports for 30 minutes on 5 days in a week, and 24 students of the Purwoharjo primary school control group, who were not restricted to physical activity. Results: The results of the bivariate analysis showed IQ values in the sports group before the study in the form of a light exercise 89.6 ± 15.6772 and after the study there was an increase to 90.4571 ± 15.02614. There was a significant increase in IQ in the treatment group (p = 0.000). The mean pre-study IQ score for the control group was 93.375 ± 11.800940, and an average of 94.375 ± 10.66409 (p = 0.31) was obtained after the study. Both groups showed a significant increase in IQ values, but the IQ changes in both groups did not show a statistical increase with p = 0.213. Conclusion: Sports games with a duration of 30 minutes are given 5 times a week for 7 weeks at regular intervals, which increases the IQ values, which corresponds to groups that exercise free physical activity (p = 0.213).
