      Abstract
Today the number of MSMEs in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta, is 2082 MSMEs. This number is not proportional to the number of Muslim consumers in Indonesia. Whereas in Indonesia there are institutions that facilitate the realization of halal industries. However, public awareness has not guaranteed to conduct halal certification. The role of LPPOM MUI in halal certification for a business is very influential on the profits of Muslim producers and consumers. Therefore, there is a need for research on the efforts of LPPOM MUI DIY on halal certification for culinary MSMEs in the city of Yogyakarta. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach. Data analysis from this study uses data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that LPPOM MUI DIY had made several efforts on halal certification for MSMEs. However, these efforts are said to be not optimal because almost all MSME actors interviewed have not felt such efforts.
