      Abstract
Background : Tension-type headache is one of primary headache that are often experienced by young people. Tension-type headache is bilateral headache that are arrested, binding, not pulsed, and not influenced by physical activity. One of the cause of tension-type headache is anxiety. Anxiety on medical students is caused by a tight curriculum and schedule, educational system transitions, student participant achievement competitions, and so on. Objective : to evaluate whether anxiety is affecting to tension-type headache. Methods : we investigated 73 students of FKIK UMY that will meet OSCE test with a Cross sectional study. Data was taken on the last tutorial about 2-5 days before OSCE (Objective structure clinical examination). Anxiety is diagnosed by Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and tension-type headache is diagnosed by ICHD III checklist. Result : A total of 73 subjects who experienced anxiety were investigated, namely those who experienced mild anxiety as many as 13 subjects (17.8%), moderate anxiety 7 subjects (9.6%), severe anxiety 21 subjects (28.8%), and anxiety was very severe 32 subjects (43.8%). Some of the 73 subjects, that are 26 subjects (35.6%) experienced tension-type headaches and 47 students (64.4%) did not experience tension-type headaches. Spearman Rank test showed results of r = 0.263 with a value of p = 0.025 (<0.05), which means there is a weak and significant correlationship. Conclusion : The anxiety has a weak and significant correlationship with the incident of tension-type headache.
