      Abstract
      Background: Health Care Associated Infection (HAIs) is an infection that occurs by the result of health care. The most important basic technique in preventing and controlling transmission of the infection is by washing hands. This study aims to describe any factors that can be influence hand hygiene of nurses at Ar Royan’s ward on PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Gamping Sleman. Method: Design of this research was descriptive analytic quantitative approach. The sampling technique in this research is by total sampling with 20 of nurses that working in Ar Royan’s ward on PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Gamping Sleman. Data analysis that used on this research is frequency distribution. Result: According to the research, researcher found the average age of 17-25 years old are 13 (65%), aged 26-35 years old are 7 (35%), male are 5 (25%), femaleare 15 (75%), D3 graduateare 15 (75%), S1 graduate are 5 (25%), nurses that has 1 year experience are 11 (55%), and nurses that has > 1 year experience are 9 (45%). Education 10 (50%), facility of hand hygiene 15 (75%) inadequate, policy 17 (85%) support. Conclusion: The knowledge of nurses at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Sleman Hospital, still low classified, the facilities of hand hygiene were not supported enough although the policy of the hospital was very supported. This research could be reference for hospital staff, in order to increase the hand hygienetraining.
