      Abstract
Background: Oral candidiasis is easy to infect toddlers. Candida albicans is usually in the mouth, tongue, and lips. This fungi is an infectious disease caused by the level of hygiene and human habits. Fruit, seeds, leaves, bark, and roots of soursop plants have been used as traditional medicine. Soursop leaf (Annona muricata) is one of the blessings of Allah SWT. The benefits of flavonoids in the human body are antioxidants that are very good for cancer prevention, protecting cell structures, increasing the effectiveness of vitamin C, anti-inflammation, preventing bone loss, and antibiotics. Research Purpose: This study aims to examine the effect of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata) on the growth of Candida albicans fungi. Methods: Ethanol extract of soursop leaf was obtained by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. Antifungal activity testing using diffusion method with the concentration of soursop leaf extract 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. Results: The experimental results of antifungal activity of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata) on Candida albicans showed that there were no clear zones at each concentration of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. The results of data analysis in this study indicate that the ethanol extract of soursop leaf cannot inhibit the growth of fungi Candida albicans. Conclusion: There are several causes of the soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata) cannot inhibit the growth of fungi Candida albicans. Extract of soursop leaf (Annona muricata) using ethanol 70% less dissolves secondary metabolites that affect to the growth of Candida albicans. The location of soursop leaf samples with different environmental conditions can also have an impact on the quality of soursop leaf. The antifungal content in soursop leaf extract in the Pundong, Bantul area is not strong enough to inhibit the growth of fungi Candida albicans.
