      Abstract
Issues related to the minority groups, especially Chinese ethnic group in Indonesia are not new things. Minority groups, especially the Chinese ethnic group, have been overlooked by the majority group (Indonesian native people). In fact, minority groups, especially the Chinese ethnic group, have been playing important role for Indonesia. Now, all struggles (and efforts) conducted by them (the minority group) seem to be ignored by the majority group and they prioritize their own struggles (the majority group). Tempo Magazine in the special edition on 10-16 October 2016 discussed one of the minority groups’ public figure, Soe Hok-gie. However, Tempo Magazine issued this edition with no intention to support the actions done by the minority group. The research method is qualitative. The data (primary and secondary) are related to the research of Tempo Magazine (10-16 October 2016) and supporting books. Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis approach was used to do research on the primary data (Tempo Magazine, 10-16 October 2016) supported by secondary data (books related to the research). The research result illustrates that the issues of minority groups, especially Chinese ethnic group in Tempo Magazine (10-16 October 2016) as “the marginalized group” and the discourse of Soe Hok-gie in the edition of Tempo Magazine is a discourse about Soe Hok-gie’s figure who is an intellectual, critical, and pure idealist.
