      Abstract
The research entitled “Land Suitability Evaluation Of Coastel Sandy Land For Shallots In Parangtritis, Bantul Based On Distance from The Coastline” aims to determine the characteristics of land and the suitability level of Parangtritis coastal sand land for shallots in Kretek District. The research was implemented from September 2018 until January 2019. This research was done using observation method throught the collecting of primary and secondary data. Primary data is data obtained directly in the field or in the laboratory and secondary data obtained through literature study as supporting primary data. Data were analyzed by matching method to evaluate the coastal sand land suitability and use the weight factor matching method to match the characteristics of Kretek District for shallots. The result of laboratory analysis showed that the Parangtritis coastal land at a distance 0f 450 and 900 m in Kretek District was characterized has sandy texture, soil drainase was very rapid, depth of soil 40-60 cm, N-total was very low, P2O5 was low, K2O was very low, cation exchangeable capacity was very low, saturation more than 35%, neutral pH, C-Organic was very low, salinity was very low and no flood hazard. Based on soil characteristics and supporting data, the suitability grade of the land actual shallots is Nwa-1, Noa-1, and Nrc-1by rainfall drainage, and texture as limiting factors. The land needs a lot of organic material for shallots can be grow optimally.
