      Abstract
      The purpose of this research was to understand the characteristics of sub-districs in Bantul regency based on the indicators of food security and classifying the sub-districs based on their food security’s condition using clustering method. This research was conducted in Bantul regency at sub-districts level with the total of districs are 17 sub-districs. The measurment of food security’s condition in this research used 8 indicators, which are: 1) Ratio of normative consumption, 2) poverty, 3) unemployment, 4) Househholds without accessing electricity, 5) Bamboo walled houses, 6) primary school dropout (SD) age> 15 years, 7) Toddlers with malnutrition and 8) households without accessing clean water. The results of this research indicate that 2 sub-districts belong to the criteria of quite food insecurity, 9 sub-districts belonging to the criteria of adequate food security and 6 sub-districts classified as in criteria of food security. Sub-districts in Bantul Regency are grouped into 3 clusters, namely: 1) First cluster consists of 7 sub-district, 2) Cluster 2 consists of 7 sub-districts and 3) cluster 3 consists of 3 sub-districts.
