      Abstract
Farming is the livelihood of most of Indonesia's population. Especially those who live in rural areas, who still have fertile land that is suitable for planting various kinds of food plants. In effort to increase the production the Government provides rice seed subsidies so that farmers get the facilities and subsidize the price of rice seeds. Although the government has provided rice seed subsidies, not all farmers use these facilities. Most still use non-subsidized seeds. This research aimed to know the characteristics of subsidized rice farmers toward the response of farmers who use subsidized rice seeds and also to know the influence factors of farmers response toward subsidized rice seeds. The basic method used in this research was desktiptif with survey method. Research result showed that as many 32 farmers (66,67%) were 47 – 62 years used subsidized rice seeds, as many 47 farmers (97,92%) used non-subsidized rice seeds. The majority of the land area of farmers who used non-subsidized seeds was 1,250 - 14,166 m2 as much 58.33%, there were 45 farmers (93.75%) non-subsidized seed users, 5 farmers (51.67%) subsidized seed users have elementary education. There are 26 farmers (54.17%) who used non-subsidized seed and 9 (75.0%) subsidized seed users have family member among of 2-3 people. The response of farmer's attitude towards the use of subsidized rice seeds had an average score of 3.18 which was included in the Fairly Good category, while the factors that influence farmers' response toward subsidized rice seed was the land owned by farmers which proven by the acquisition of P Value of 0.014 <0, 05.
