      Abstract
Temanggung is one of the centres of the highest quality tobacco producers. One of the main consumers of Temanggung tobacco is PT. Gudang Garam. Currently there is a change in trading system in the warehouse for purchasing tobacco (gudang pembelian tembakau / GPT) PT. Gudang Garam that caused by incompatibility of quality chopped tobacco which includes the impurity of tobacco varieties, the addition of foreign matters, and mixing of tobacco outside the region. The purpose of this research was to describe changes in trading, to know the attitude of farmers, and to know the factors that correlated to attitudes. Determination of location and respondents in this study using the Multi Stage Stratified Random Sampling method is based on consideration of the differences in the level of quality of tobacco in each region of Temanggung Regency caused by the factors of each tobacco planting area having different agroecologies. Farmer groups were selected randomly by the sampling method include Sumbing Jaya, Mulyo 1, and Sedya Maju. Data collection was conducted through interviews with 79 farmer respondents who were randomly selected. Data analysis techniques used include descriptive, likert scale scoring, and spearman’s rank correlation. The results of the study show that trading changes include requests for improved tobacco quality and implementation of changes in the purchasing system. The attitude of farmers to changes in tobacco trading is in the poor category, where cognitive attitudes show less knowledge, affective attitudes show disagreement, and conative attitudes show less desire. Factors that correlated to farmer’s attitudes include age, land area, tobacco quality, general knowledge of trading systems, and trading experience.
