      Abstract
      The perception of each person is not the same because the process of disclosing an event according to the circumstances that exist in the community, while the problem examined in this paper is to describe the importance of cultural diplomacy for a country during the grand event of the Prambanan Jazz international music festival in Yogyakarta 2018-2019 . This research was conducted to find out how the influence of the importance of international scale festivals, how local and international community perceptions of the implementation of this event, so that what becomes a constraint factor for the implementation of jazz prambanan held regularly from year to year. This type of research is descriptive research. Descriptive method aims to describe the facts of what happened at the Yogyakarta International Prambanan Jazz (YIPJ) event, the resourch library. The qualitative research approach used is phenomenological studies using data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation, then the researcher analyzes the data using data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show the importance of cultural diplomacy in a country to promote cultural competitiveness, Indonesia needs a broader and specific cultural diplomacy strategy, especially the great hope of the support of all elements, especially the Indonesian government.
