      Abstract
Background: Saliva is one of the main factor that has an important role in the health of oral cavity, especially related to the process of caries. Acidic conditionin the mouth affect the growth and development of cariogenic bacteria which will initiate the process of demineralization in the teeth, thuswill occur dental caries. The consumption pattern of food such as fish containing protein helps in maintaining the acidity degree of the oral cavity. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of fish consumption to salivary pH in children 12-13 years in SMP N 2 Kretek In 2019. Methods: This type of research was observational analytic with cross-sectional design. The study took place in May-June 2019 in SMP N 2 Kretek. The total subjects of the research were 68 with a total sampling method using the age criteria of 12-13 years. The pattern of fish consumption was measured using the Food Frequency Questionnaire and salivary pH measurement using a Hanna HI 98107 pH meter . The data was analyzed by using the Spearman correlation test. Results: The results of this study indicate that there is no significant relationship between the frequency of fish consumption and salivary pH (p> 0.05). Conclusion: There is no correlation between consumption of marine fish to salivary pH in children aged 12-13 years in SMP N 2 Kretek.
