      Abstract
      Indonesia is one of the countries that have a metal handicraft industry centers, some metal subdivided pamor craft in the Indonesia gold (Au), Silver (Ag), copper (Cu), brass (CuZn), etc. One of the Development Center for craft industry metal is quite advanced in Java, especially Central Java and Yogyakarta. However, the metal has a deficiency of namely can be contaminated with the surrounding environment. Contaminated metal can damage the surface of metal or function, which happen scientifically and not be prevented completely. This research uses a method of coating a surface or electroplating which refers to previous research. Electroplating is a base metal with a metal coating is more noble to increase resistance to corrosion. The process of electroplating in this study with the time variation of the coating that is 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes using the same flow namely 2,3volts to know the thickness and maximum roughnes after testing. Based on data obtained this indicates the existence of a difference between the thickness value is inversely proportional to the value of maximum thickness value where the roughness average in 90 minutes time variation of the thickness of the outer 65.19 μm, 17.15 μm the inside and maximum roughness variation occurred in a 30-minute namely 0.054 μm and likewise with the smallest value exists on the thickness with variasa 30-minute namely 23.22 μm exterior, 12.73 μm roughness value of the inside and happened on a variation time 90 minutes namely 0.028 μm.
