HUBUNGAN ANTARA EMOTIONAL SPIRITUAL QUOTIENT (ESQ) DAN ALTRUISME PADA MAHASISWA KEPERAWATAN UMY
Abstract
Background: Nurses as health workers have an important role in achieving health development goals. A nurse must have an altruism that have the attention, commitment, compassion, has the generosity and perseverance. Emotional intelligence or emotional quotient (EQ) is the ability to control their own feelings and others and use those feelings to guide thought and action. In addition, nursing students must also have a emotional spiritual quotient (ESQ), it will grow humility and be a whole person intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. So, will bring caring behavior and empathy in the face of nature and caring for clients.
Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional spiritual quotient (ESQ) against altruism on nursing students of UMY.
Methods: This study was non-experimental with cross sectional approach to the subject 140 8th semester nursing students of UMY. The research instrument was a questionnaire on demographic data, questionnaires ESQ, The Self-Report questionnaire Altruism (SRA). This study was conducted in May until July.
Results: Spearman's rho test p-value indicates spiritual emotional quotient with altruism is 0.449.
Conclusion: This study showed no correlation between emotional spiritual quotient (ESQ) against altruism on nursing students UMY so as suggested further research to investigate in other regions.
