ADAB PENDIDIK DAN PESERTA DIDIK
Abstract
Courtesy is crucial to be given more attention to in education. This research aims to reveal the courtesy of educators and learners as referring to Imam Nawawi and its relevance with the Indonesia’s current education. The researcher selected the book of At-Tibyan Fi Adabi Hamalati Al-Qur’an by Imam Nawawi since the book focuses on discussing courtesy. Further, as an author, Imam Nawawi is a well-known ulema whose thoughts are well-received by many learners.
This research used qualitative approach from the source of data compiled through documentation or library research. Further, data were analyzed using descriptive analysis method and was elaborated in accordance to the result of the analysis. The primary data used was the book of At-Tibyan Fi Adabi Hamalati Al-Qur’an by Imam Nawawi. Whilst the secondary data used were books, journal, and graduation papers in the related topic of courtesy.
The result showed that the courtesy of educators and learners written by Imam Nawawi in his book At-Tibyan Fi Adabi Hamalati Al-Qur’an, as concluded by the writer, is relevant to be relevant to be implemented in the current context. Imam Nawawi elaborated fifteen points of courtesy of educators and seven points of courtesy of learners. The writer divided those into two criteria; those are (1) highly relevant, in regards to the courtesy of educators; not using the knowledge owned as a media to pursuit wordly pleasure, having morals appropriate to the norms, gentle toward learners, fond of giving advices, not arrogant, teaching in gradual stages, the Islamic law for teaching is fard al-kifayah, prioritizing learners’ benefits, prioritizing learners coming earlier, straightening up learners’ intention, controlling his/her hands and eyes, and not taking for granted a knowledge, in regards to the courtesy of learners; keeping his/her heart pure from all kinds of sin, learning from competent teacher, behaving politely toward peer learners, studying when teachers are in good mood, having a high motivation, and the best time to study is in the morning. (2) relevant with several notes, in regards to the courtesy of educators, not seeking learners quantity but quality instead, teaching in a wide area, whilst the ones in regards to the courtesy of learners, dressed properly.
