HUBUNGAN TINGKAT KETERGANTUNGAN DENGAN TINGKAT DEPRESI PADA LANJUT USIA DI DUSUN NGRAME TAMANTIRTO, KASIHAN, BANTUL
Abstract
Background: In 2012, Indonesia is the third country in Asia which has a number of elderly people over 60 years the largest after China and India. Regions in Indonesia which has the highest elderly in 2012 is Yogyakarta. Elderly, which have increased impact on the emergence of the problem of rising dependency ratios. A decline in the elderly will have an impact on physical and mental decline, such as cognitive impairment or depression.
Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between the degree of dependence with the level of depression in the elderly in the village Ngrame, Tamantirto, Kasihan, Bantul.
Methods: This study used cross sectional data collection using the questionnaire. The questionnaire used is a GDS and Barthel index. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. This research was conducted in February 2016. The research statistical test using Spearman Correlation test. The number of respondents in this study were 35 elderly with dependence.
Results: Based on the results of the study showed that of the 35 elderly respondents, 31 (88.55%) of people experiencing moderate dependence and 29 (82.9%) had moderate depression. From the analysis results obtained significance value of 0.254> ρ (0.05). Interviews conducted by researchers at the respondents who have high levels of heavy dependence depressed but were it to happen because they support their families, while the respondents who have a dependency was however severely depressed because of problems of economic difficulties that increase the burden they feel.
Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the level of dependence of the rate of depression in the elderly in the village Ngrame Tamantirto, Kasihan, Bantul. Suggestion: Researchers further expected to conduct research on family support and economic factors to the level of depression elderly
