      Abstract
This thesis tries to explain why the United States of America has built military bases in the Asia Pacific region in 2009-2017. This area in reality almost never became the focus of the US when it was not yet led by Barack Obama. However, when he took the office Obama immediately changed the focus of US policy, from the previous focus to the Middle East region to be the focus of the Asia Pacific. Using Hans J. Morghentau's national interest theory and Hedging concept by John Hemmings, the decision of the US present in the Asia Pacific is based on strategic security considerations due to the presence of China as raising power, as well as calculating the Asia Pacific economic benefits for the US.
