      Abstract
      This study analyzes the representation of ideal body on South Korea Girl Group Girls Generation trough their music video. This study aims to examine the representation of ideal body that presented by South Korea girl group Girls Generation in their music video that uploaded on YouTube. The theory that used as theoretical framework in this study is music video as medium of representation, popular culture on music video, and ideal body on the media. The research methods that used in this study is semiotic methods with data analysis techniques from Roland Barthes that referring to two staggered system, which allows to get the multilevel on the production of meanings, called as denotation and connotation. The results of this study indicate that Girls Generation as product of Hallyu represents the ideal body into two major concepts, the first one is the performativity of ideal body on South Korea that influenced by traditional Confucianism and the second one is, body formed by Western imperialism. The first concept found that the standardization of women's bodies and the creation of excessive feminine characters in women is nothing but as a form of action or encouragement to support the emergence of masculine images in their men. On the second concept, this study found that the body is a medium that creates a different meaning for Asian women in Western Gaze.
